NIA ‘assures’ enough flow in Bayongan Dam
The National Irrigation Administration, Region 7, based here has assured enough water flow in Bayongan Dam despite the upcoming P10-Million waterworks project that will be tapping water supply from the same river source.
Region 7 acting manager Engr. Diosdado A. Rosales said the capacity impounded in the dam will be enough to supply continuous water to the thousand of hectares served by the irrigation system named as Bohol Integrated Irrigation System-BIIS 2 located in Bayongan, San Miguel.
The new waterworks system for the town of San Miguel had its groundbreaking ceremony last week attended by second district Congressman Erico B. Aumentado and Governor Edgar M. Chatto.
The congressman allocated P500,000 for the project while Chatto also shared the same amount as initial funding for this water works project.
Initial targeted beneficiaries are households in three barangays; Poblacion, Bayongan and San Vicente while the other 11 will be connected thereafter.
San Miguel Mayor Claudio Bonior expressed his gratitude to Aumentado and Chatto for the realization of the long-dreamt water service facility.
The project is implemented under the DOH -SALINTUBIG Program known as “Sagana at Ligtas na Tubig Para sa Lahat.”
