Ian Bautista arrested, police tracks cohorts
The police finally caught up with the long –wanted Ian Bautista, suspect of several hold-up robbery cases in towns and in the city.
He was nabbed last Monday in barangay La Suerte, Pilar with a lady companion and one suspect believed also involved in the activities of Bautista.
Bautista was arrested by virtue of a warrant issued by Regional Trial Court Branch 49 for the daylight hold-up robbery at Florencio Lim Caltex Station in this city, December last year.
The notorious 28-year old suspect is a native of Cogtong, Candijay and carries a P100,000 reward. His arrest however has not discounted reports of other hold-up groups still operating in many towns dubbed as Daginot Gang that victimizes petty vendors and small time business establishments.
Several lending collectors and small sari-sari store owners reported cases of being held-up by motorcycle-riding suspects but do not fit the description of Bautista or another suspect identified as Michael Lao of Inabanga.
Another rob suspect arrested earlier Joseph Moraga, 23, of San Miguel, Bohol, linked in the Uni-Top hold-up case however had told the police Bautista and Lao are not members of their group.
Uni-Top, located at CPG avenue this city, lost an estimated P500,000 cash on Dec. 28, 2006, Thursday noon as three motorcycle-riding hold-uppers accosted the cashier walking towards the First Consolidated Bank branch at the ground floor of the Metro Center building also at CPG avenue, about 200 meters from the store.
Security guard Dalmacio Casimsiman, 22 years old, of the Cordial Security Agency was fatally shot on the spot and died later at the hospital.
Other suspects identified by Moraga remained at large and believed now operating as a separate group. |
