Yes, after the excitement of an entertainment like a movie or a performing art, people go home to an empty table, hunger still gnaws at their stomach.

Itís more fun in the Philippines?

The novelty and excitement of the people over the Corona impeachment have slowly worn off as it enters into its 3rd week with the slow pace of the proceedings, the debate among the lawyers using legalese not so understood by the ďmasaĒ and the use of a falsified bank balance in order to open the bank accounts of CJ Corona which is used illegally for fishing evidence of the Corona bank accounts. The help of some senators to assist the slow process of evidence presentation of the prosecution have bored the people.

Yes, after the excitement of an entertainment like a movie or a performing art, people go home to an empty table, hunger still gnaws at their stomach. 10% of Filipinos eat only once a day as per statistics and another 50% hardly make both ends meet on food alone. Itís more fun in the Philippines is the tourism slogan nowadays but to the hungry peons, the majority of Filipinos they donít find it fun. To the majority of the Filipinos, it is more fun to stay in the Middle East, Hong Kong, Singapore, Europe, the US and elsewhere for they will have work and money to send to their families left behind in our country. Families have broken up because of separation which is a casualty of couples living separately seeing each other once a year or two. Itís not fun to be hungry, poor and jobless.

The poor now use showbiz as a diversion to still a hungry stomach. Yes they need help by the government especially the National government. It should provide short term poverty alleviation measures announcing projects released and to be released to build additional classrooms, health centers, farm to market roads, supervised fertilizer loans and deploying more farm technicians to the countryside to supervise at least 3 barangays per technicians on the job not in the poblacion. TV, radio and mass media should not concentrate on crimes and the Corona impeachment but should take priority on news and ads on poverty alleviation measures to show that government cares for the poor. Unless people will know what government is doing for them, they think the government is inutile. Let us thank that our provincial, local leaders and some congressmen are doing poverty alleviation measures in their areas. The national government is not so active in publicizing poverty alleviation for the poor hence people seems cool and dissatisfied with the national administration. They cannot eat anti-corruption headlines nor the Corona Impeachment proceedings.
