AIRPORT TERMINAL FEE: P200
Board members want CAAP to explain hike

The provincial board members of Bohol had taken the cudgels for the commuters travelling through the Tagbilaran City Airport.

In a twin-resolution passed during the regular Sangguniang Panlalawigan session Friday, board member Abeleon Damalerio sponsored a move of asking the Civil Aeronautics Administration of the Philippines to hold in abeyance the implementation of increase in terminal fee from P20 to P200.

The other resolution asked for the explanation on the increase which is soon to be implemented despite earlier protest on the measure.

The CAAP administrator himself is invited to personally meet the board members to shed light on the issue that earned a backlash from the riding public.

BM Damalerio said the increase in terminal fee is too high and should not be imposed at once so as not to burden the commuting public.

Influx of local and foreign tourists have been noted in the city airport, now fielding eight direct flights daily Tagbilaran to Manila and back.

CAAP had earlier announced that the terminal fee increase is implemented in all airports throughout the country and not only in Tagbilaran City.

The announced increase was earlier protested by the Provincial Tourism Council chaired by lawyer Lucas Nunag.

The reported increase in terminal fee came at a time that the city airport is still renovating its departure and arrival area.
