Anti-Poverty project launched in Talibon
The Chatto-Lim Administration has again proven, for the nth time, that its projects are focused on poverty reduction can cascade in the grassroots level.
Gov. Edgar Chatto, while holding office in Talibon launched last Tuesday the Native Chicken Project.
Talibon townsfolk led by Mayor Restituto Auxtero and Vice-Mayor Marcos Aurestila welcomed Gov. Edgar M. Chatto, Socio-Economic and Environment Management (SEEM) Cluster Head Liza Quirog and Provincial Veterinarian Dr. Stella Marie Lapiz.
In line with the Provincial Government of Bohol’s (PGBh) overarching development framework of HEAT Bohol LIFE HELPS, the Native Chicken Project, a is joint undertaking by the Office of the Provincial Agriculturist (OPA) and the Office of the Provincial Veterinarian (OPV).
Tuesday’s project launching also included Bien-Unido, Getafe and Trinidad.
“With international oil prices going up in which countries can do nothing about, a revolution is much needed to help people combat poverty,” Chatto said with conviction. “But, it is a revolution for food, a revolution for food security and a revolution for cooperation, through Purok Power Movement (PPM) and countryside development program, down to the grass roots,” Chatto stressed.
The ever-strong triumvirate led the project launching which consisted of the turn-over of selected chicken to deserving beneficiaries, the signing of the Memorandum of Understanding (MOU) between the Provincial Government and the People’s Organization (PO) and the signing of the bank account documents among the PO officers led by Apolinario Artiaga.
The PGBh’s poverty reduction projects of BAHAY KUBO FAITH (Food Always in the Home), HOPE (Herbal Organic Plant Enhancement) and CHARITY (Chicken Always Ready in the Yard) are basically focused on teaching Boholanos “how to fish” to improve our people’s quality of life and enhance our capabilities.
With global competition now at its strongest, Gov. Chatto firmly believes that instilling capacity enhancement at the grass roots of the entire province would undoubtedly “enable the Boholanos fight off poverty and be the leaders of world-wide quality products and services thereby leading not only the entire region but the whole nation as well to greater achievements, not only today but for always.” (jlv/EDCom)
